Frequently Asked
Questions

What is a single lane course? A single lane course at California Ninja uses our bay and balance system to create one long course, perfect for competitions or smaller groups preferring an extended challenge at a similar skill level. It’s double the length of a dual lane, enabling creative, intense competitions with a focus on timed runs. However, it can’t accommodate varied skill levels with “Easy” and “Hard” lanes like a dual lane package, nor handle as many participants simultaneously. For timed competitions among similar-skilled ninjas, this is the best option!
What is a dual lane course? A dual lane course at California Ninja features two parallel lanes set up using our bay and balance system, ideal for larger groups or varied skill levels! This setup allows for head-to-head races or simultaneous runs, with the flexibility to create an "Easy" lane and a "Hard" lane to accommodate different abilities. It can handle more ninjas at once compared to a single lane, making it perfect for events with diverse participants. However, it’s shorter than a single lane course, which may limit the complexity of competition for timed events.
How do you host a competition? At California Ninja, we’ll collaborate with you to tailor the competition to your specific needs! Typically, participants can run the course freely throughout the event, and in the last hour, competitors sign up to compete. We’ll use our speaker system to call them one by one to the course, where they’ll race for the fastest time with the fewest faults (errors/fails). The competitor with the best time and fewest faults wins, and we’ll host an award ceremony to announce First, Second, and Third places. Each podium athlete receives a custom-engraved medal wooden or metal featuring your event name, their name, and their time!
Can I choose my own obstacles? Yes, at California Ninja you have the ability to fully customize your course. We will contact you prior to the event to go through the Course and plan the best obstacles for your event. You also can let our team of Ninja experts design the course that best fits your events needs.
Are your courses safe? Yes, our courses at California Ninja are designed with safety as a top priority! We use state-of-the-art metal truss bays and top-of-the-line equipment to ensure a secure setup. Professional ninjas assist and spot throughout the course, while mats cover the entire area, including 8-inch thick Pit Pillow mats in high-risk zones where ninjas are more likely to fail an obstacle. We also adjust obstacle heights to accommodate ninjas of all sizes, minimizing drops and tailoring the challenge. While there is always some inherent risk in athletic training, we employ these methods to minimize all risk of injury, creating a safe and fun environment for everyone!
Do I have to fill out a waiver? Yes, every event at California Ninja requires participants to fill out waivers. Hosts can choose between individual waivers for each guest or an umbrella waiver covering all attendees, which is more common for closed functions like parties. Fairs and schools often opt for waiver stations at the course entrance. For participants under 18, a parent or guardian must complete the waiver, ensuring everyone’s safety and compliance before enjoying the course!
Is there an age limit? You’re never too old to enjoy the course at California Ninja, as we welcome participants of all ages! However, we do require a minimum age of at least 5 years old to ensure safety and an appropriate experience for everyone.
Do you have any location requirements? Yes, depending on your package size, California Ninja requires up to 80 feet of open space, though we can creatively bend the course to fit most locations. Flatter, even ground is ideal for setup. For indoor events, we need a minimum of 12-foot ceilings. To comply with Fire Marshal regulations, we cannot block fire exits, must ensure clear pathways to all exits, and cannot set up in a way that obstructs a hallway.
What are balance obstacles? Balance obstacles at California Ninja are designed to challenge your stability, coordination, and core strength as you navigate their unique surfaces! These obstacles, such as the Balance Beam, XS Balance Beam, Unstable Bridge, Floating Bridge, and Pistons, require you to maintain equilibrium while walking, stepping, or traversing, often on moving or narrow platforms. They test your focus and agility, offering a fun way to improve your balance skills, with adjustable setups to suit ninjas of all levels!
What happens if we have bad weather on the day of our event? If it rains, you can reschedule your California Ninja event for inclement weather up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. Alternatively, if you have access to an indoor location, we’re happy to adjust and move the event indoors. In cases of extreme heat or cold temperatures, we typically proceed as scheduled without changes.
How far in advance do I need to book a course for my event? We recommend planning your California Ninja event 2-4 months in advance to ensure availability and smooth coordination. However, don’t hesitate to reach out no matter how soon your event is we’re happy to work with you and schedule a course whenever possible!
What are hanging obstacles? Hanging obstacles at California Ninja are suspended challenges that test your grip strength, upper body power, and coordination as you swing, lache, or traverse! These include obstacles like the Trapeze Bar, Rope Swing, Nunchucks, XL Nunchucks, Wind Chimes, UFO, Cliff Hanger, Cheese Board, and Unstable Bridge, where ninjas must grip and move across using their hands. They offer a thrilling way to build strength and skill, with adjustable setups for all levels!
